Pulteney Pirates go down a storm at Portpartrick Lifeboat Week!
06/08/2002
Portpatrick Lifeboat Week received a major boost on Saturday (3 August) with the surprise appearance of the Pulteney Pirates who were on hand to serve visitors with a heart-warming dram of Old Pulteney 12-year-old single malt.
The Pirates swooped in following a special appeal from lifeboat coxswain/mechanic Robert Erskine, who said their popularity at last year’s event made their attendance a number one priority for this year.
Robert said: “I’m really pleased that they accepted our invitation to attend because I know they are in huge demand all around the country. The Pulteney Pirates went down a storm with visitors who were delighted to receive their free drams of Old Pulteney.” The Pirates dished out the drinks to a large crowd who had gathered to watch a daring lifeboat rescue demonstration. Visitor Margaret Purdie from Ayr said: “It’s great to see the Pirates here and the Old Pulteney whisky seems to have gone done rather well with everybody!”
Referred to as the ‘Genuine Maritime Malt’, Old Pulteney enjoys widespread appeal amongst whisky enthusiasts. Established in 1826 in the town of Wick, Pulteney Distillery is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland.
