Cyber shoppers go online with Old Pulteney!

Whisky cyber surfers can now buy Old Pulteney single malt Scotch whisky online following the launch of a new interactive website.

Accessed through www.oldpulteney.com, the website guides whisky enthusiasts on the brand offerings from Old Pulteney and provides an authentic taste of the history behind the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. The site is probably unique because web designer and part-time folk singer Gavin McNae of Glasgow-based Facilitie 46 brings his musical talents to bear by singing a specially composed lament that portrays the highs and lows of one woman’s life in the 19th Century herring industry.

Gavin McNae says: “We wanted to bring a sense of history to the Old Pulteney site that reflected Wick’s vibrant maritime heritage. We felt it important to ensure the music and song depicted on the site had a human dimension and the fortunes of the woman portrayed in the lament mirrors that of the local herring industry.” An easy-to-use search facility on the site allows whisky connoisseurs to quickly access the names of shops in their home locality. If the retailer is out of stock, then there is the option to directly purchase the whisky online.

Margaret Mary Timpson, Brand Manager for Old Pulteney, says the website is designed to be both entertaining and informative. ‘We are extremely pleased with the end result and are confident that it will prove popular with discerning whisky enthusiasts, providing a means for sourcing their favourite malt. ’
