Over the last four years Old Pulteney’s Wish You Were Here competition has gone from strength to strength and has established itself as the UK’s biggest maritime amateur photography competition. In 2009 over 3000 entries were submitted and the standard and quality of photographs was exceedingly high.
After long hours of discussions the judges chose Laurence Cartwright with his picture 'Sunstar over West Pier' to be the Old Pulteney Wish You Were Here Winner 2009. Laurence will receive prize money of £2500 plus a trip to the Pulteney Distillery in Wick, where he’ll be able to fill his own bottle of Old Pulteney.
Says Iain Baxter, Senior Brand Manager of Old Pulteney: "It is a delightful picture and captures everything we were looking for in a winning photograph: the beauty and romance of the British seaside, great composition and fantastic use of light. 'Sunstar over West Pier' is a wonderful image, it is so tranquil, nostalgic, calming and really tells a story. Congratulations to Laurence!"

Furthermore the winning photograph will be exhibited in the National Maritime Museum and the ten lucky runners up will each receive a bottle of Old Pulteney 12 Year Old as their prize.
