It's hard to believe it's been a decade. We've just launched the Wish You Were Here amateur photography competition we run in partnership with The Sunday Express for the tenth time. Last year more than 1,000 of you entered and we were truly in awe not only with the enthusiasm but also with the quality and creativity of the work.
As in previous years, the subject of the competition is the Great British coastline – something close to our hearts. From the fishermen bringing in the morning's catch to grey seals enjoying a brief moment of sunshine, we're looking for photos that capture the spirit of our wonderful coast, be it the people who live and work by the sea, the wildlife in its natural habitat or simply the breathtaking beauty of the place. We count on your intuition and talent.
One lucky winner will enjoy a VIP trip for two to Pulteney Distillery where they will be given a chance to fill their own bottle of The Maritime Malt. The photographer can also look forward to a newspaper spread featuring the winning picture as well as a £2500 cash prize.
Here's what last year's winner, Keith Johnson from Bradford, said about winning the competition:
The news that I had won the Old Pulteney Wish You Were Here competition came completely out of the blue. I am an amateur photographer and have never won anything before so I’m absolutely thrilled! The photo was taken on a beautiful night in Portsmouth and was shot using a Panasonic TZ5. I am an avid whisky fan so cannot wait to take my trip up north to visit the Pulteney Distillery with my wife and I’m already planning a trip to Nashville to visit an old friend with my prize money.'
